What the Hell is Going On at Genkii?

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Hey there. Been a while since we hung out, so here’s a quick update on what’s happening at Genkii.

Genkii is going through some significant changes, and we figured you might want to know about some of them.

  • Genkii’s team is distributed around the world now, and we’ve all got additional gigs happening, so we’re not actively pursuing as many internal projects as a team. Consider it a hiatus, or a hibernation, or something like that. In other words: we will all likely work together on a variety of projects, but not all of them will be Genkii-specific. We’ll keep you updated here and/or Twitter and Facebook.
  • Sparkle IM is now free in the App Store! Anyone who doesn’t have it, go get it. Still send us your feedback and stay tuned for further news.
  • One Coin Comics is moving slowly, but isn’t dead. We’ve all just been consumed by other projects and that pesky “need to make money to eat” thing. Foxfire #1 is still free in the App Store. Further issues (and other titles) are still in the works, and we’ll keep you informed about them here and/or at One Coin Comics, Twitter, and Facebook.
  • Other apps we were working on are also in various stages, and we’ll update you as they happen.
  • We’ll try to update you on what Genkii people are doing, but we’re all crazy busy. Sorry we’re so slow.

That may have raised more questions than it answered, but there it is.

So, keep in touch and we’ll try to do the same.

Sparkle IM Version 1.3.3 Released

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Hey everyone!

We’ve just released Sparkle IM version 1.3.3 in the AppStore today.

New features include:

  • In-app email of chat and IM logs (for iPhone OS 3.0 users only)
  • X,Y,Z support in the custom start location screen
  • Support for alternate chat channels using the “/#” command
  • Fixed some potential crashes for some users
  • “Japan” location added to the start locations

The “Japan” location in Second Life is for Sparkle users who want a common space to hang out in.  You can chat with other Sparkle users, or sometime catch some Genkii-ites on there as well.

Many of our added features come from user requests.  The best place to request new features is on our GetSatisfaction page.  We are happy to hear your input and feedback, so please keep it coming!
